About Scotty D Charities

Scotty D Charities, Inc. was founded in 2018 with a simple mission: to bring hope, joy, and support to children and families throughout Pasco County.

The charity was inspired by the vision of D. Scott Grant, a law enforcement officer who dedicated more than 40 years of his life to serving and protecting others. Throughout his career, Scott witnessed many of life's most difficult circumstances. He often encountered children facing hardship, neglect, and uncertainty, and he wanted to create something positive to help offset the challenges he saw every day.

In 2011, Scott discovered a Santa suit through Facebook Marketplace that fit perfectly and began volunteering his time as Santa Claus. What started as visits to local schools and appearances on the historic courthouse lawn in downtown Dade City quickly became a beloved community tradition. Soon after, his wife, Jackie, joined him as Mrs. Claus, and together they spent countless hours bringing smiles to children and families throughout the community, offering free photos with Santa and creating cherished holiday memories.

In 2018, with the support and guidance of Miranda Faulkner of Imagine Solutions, Scotty D Charities was officially established as a nonprofit organization. Since then, the organization has expanded far beyond holiday events, partnering with schools, hospitals, community programs, and fellow nonprofits to provide assistance where it is needed most.

Over the years, Scotty D Charities has proudly supported children and families through holiday sponsorships, school and community initiatives, scholarship opportunities, fundraising efforts, and partnerships with organizations serving vulnerable populations throughout Pasco County and surrounding areas. What began with helping a handful of families has grown into an ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of children and adults.

In March 2026, Scott lost his courageous battle with esophageal cancer. While his passing was a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and community, his spirit of service and compassion continues to guide the organization he founded.

Today, Jackie Grant, Co-Founder of Scotty D Charities, along with the Board of Directors, dedicated volunteers, donors, and community partners, proudly carries forward Scott's mission. Together, we remain committed to uplifting children, supporting families, and strengthening our community through acts of kindness, generosity, and service.

Scott's legacy lives on in every child who smiles, every family who receives support, and every volunteer who chooses to give back.
