In honor of Founder D. Scott Grant's 40-year career in law enforcement and dedication to community service, Scotty D. Charities proudly awards two $1,000 scholarships annually—one to a graduating senior from Cypress Creek High School and one to a graduating senior from Zephyrhills High School pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice or a related public service field.

  • Eligibility varies by scholarship. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors in Pasco County and meet the specific requirements listed for each scholarship opportunity.

  • The deadline for all submissions for all scholarships will be April 28, 2027 at 11:59pm.

  • Award amounts vary by scholarship.

    1. Scotty D. Charities Memorial Scholarship Cypress Creek High School Seniors are applying for a $1000 scholarship for those seeking Criminal Justice Majors.

    2. Scotty D. Charities Memorial Scholarship Zephyrhills High School Seniors are applying for a $1000 scholarship for those seeking Criminal Justice Majors.

    3. Scotty D. Charities Chantelle Johnson Student Education Program Scholarship (Pasco High School Seniors are applying for a $500 scholarship. Two qualified applicants will be chosen.

  • To be considered for a Scotty D. Charities Scholarship, applicants must submit a complete application packet by the stated deadline. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated.

    Required Materials:

    Minimum Unweighted GPA

    • Applicants must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5.

    • GPA must be verified by a school representative.

    Letter of Recommendation

    • Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, school administrator, employer, coach, or community leader. The letter should highlight your character, academic or professional achievements, leadership qualities, volunteer involvement, and potential for success in higher education and a career focused on serving others.

    Community Service

    • Submit documentation of at least 60 verified volunteer hours.

    • Volunteer hours must be signed and confirmed by a school representative.

    Personal Essay

    • Cypress Creek & Zephyrhills High: Submit a 500–1,000 word essay describing your commitment to community service, your educational and career goals, and your interest in pursuing a career in criminal justice, public safety, law enforcement, legal studies, corrections, forensic science, or a related field. Applicants should explain how they plan to use their education and future career to positively impact their community and uphold the values of service, integrity, and leadership embodied by D. Scott Grant.

    • Chantelle Johnson Applications: Submit a 500–1,000 word essay describing your commitment to community service, your educational and career goals, and your interest in pursuing a career in criminal justice, public safety, law enforcement, legal studies, corrections, forensic science, or a related field. Applicants should explain how they plan to use their education and future career to positively impact their community and uphold the values of service, integrity, and leadership embodied by D. Scott Grant.
