Dade City Commission to Consider Naming 15th Street “Santa Scott Grant Street” in Honor of Scotty D Charities Founder

Tomorrow, August 25, 2026, the Dade City Commission will consider Resolution 2026-18, a proposal to rename a portion of 15th Street between Church Avenue and Meridian Avenue “Santa Scott Grant Street” in honor of Scotty D Charities founder Scott Grant.

The Board of Directors, family, friends, and supporters of Scotty D Charities will attend the commission meeting to show their support for this meaningful tribute to a man who dedicated more than four decades to serving his community.

Scott Grant, who passed away in March following a courageous battle with esophageal cancer, spent more than 40 years in law enforcement. Throughout his career, he witnessed children and families facing hardship, neglect, uncertainty, and difficult circumstances. Rather than simply accepting what he saw, Scott chose to make a difference.

From Helping Families to Building a Legacy

In 2018, Scott and his wife, Jackie, founded Scotty D Charities with a simple mission: to bring hope, joy, and support to children and families in need.

What began by helping a handful of families has grown into an ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of children and adults throughout the community.

For Scott, the work was personal. As Santa and Mrs. Claus, Scott and Jackie spent countless hours bringing Christmas magic to families throughout Dade City and beyond. Their generosity became a tradition that families looked forward to year after year.

One of Scott’s most cherished traditions was Dade City’s Annual Church Street Christmas. For three nights each December, Santa and Mrs. Claus offered free photographs with Santa, creating special memories for hundreds of children and their families.

The event was hosted at the home of Michael and Roz Carr, where the couple generously opened their property to the community.

A Street Named for “Santa Scott”

The proposed street renaming would preserve the location where Scott created some of his most treasured memories and recognize the lasting impact he had on the Dade City community.

Michael Carr shared:

“For the past eight years, Scott and Jackie brought the magic of Christmas to our home and to countless children and families who visited Church Street Christmas. It would mean so much to us to see 15th Street renamed in Scott’s honor. This would be a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much of himself to our community and whose legacy will continue to inspire others for years to come.”

The name “Santa Scott Grant Street” represents more than a street sign. It represents the countless children who experienced Christmas joy because of Scott, the families he helped, the volunteers he inspired, and the community he brought together.
